FULL TIME SWITZERLAND 2-0 PORTUGAL Full time in Basel. Uninspiring display from Portugal, spirited display from Switzerland and they fully deserve their victory. They end their Euro 2008 campaign on a high, while Portugal limp on to the quarter finals.
90'
UNLUCKY SWISS Bit of a shame that this is Switzerland's last game really. They were pretty unlucky in their first two games and if Yakin had scored that chance to make it 2-0 against Turkey, you never know what might have happened. Still, they've been great co-hosts and can hold their heads high tonight after a great second half display. Barnetta, Inler and Yakin have been the pick of the bunch.
87'
DISAPPOINTING REPLACEMENTS Well the likes of Nuno Gomes and Simao will sleep well tonight. Their positions might have been at stake had Nani, Quaresma and Postiga played well today, but apart from a decent first 45 from Nani they haven't.
85'
STANDING OVATION Yakin gets substituted and is afforded a standing ovation by the home fans for his two goals. Ricardo Cabanas is his replacement. This is a proper love-in now in Basel.
83'
GOAL! SWITZERLAND 2-0 TURKEY Hakan Yakin takes the pen and scores with some strike. Top left hand corner, and even though Ricardo went the right way he got nowhere near it. At last the Swiss fans have something to celebrate.
82'
PENALTY! Meira fouls Barnetta in the box and the ref points to the spot. Somehow Meira escapes a second yellow.
81'
MORE YELLOWS Miguel and Barnetta both go in the book for some handbags. These Portugal players seem intent on feeling their manager's wrath today.
78'
BOOKING Fernando Meira is booked for having a go at the ref. Stupid really, considering the fact that he's more likely than most to get a few more games in the tournament. Scolari is not best pleased.
76'
OH DEAR Nani releases Quaresma who is through on goal but he tries a fancy return pass to Nani and completely messes it up. Oh dear.
74'
ANOTHER CHANGE Helder Postiga is replaced by Hugo Almeida up front. Can't imagine we'll be seeing him again in Euro 2008 after that performance. He won't be missed.
71'
GOAL! SWITZERLAND 1-0 PORTUGAL Well that was coming. Yakin takes a nice lay off and beats Ricardo with a cool finish from just inside the box. Basel erupts and the Swiss are 19 minutes away from their first ever European Championships win.
70'
SUBSTITUTION Scolari isn't happy with the way the game is going and replaces Veloso with Moutinho. No Ronaldo, but it'll do.
68'
BARNETTA IMPACT Barnetta's really getting involved here as the Swiss try to make the breakthrough. His cross just evades Yakin in the six yard box.
65'
OFF THE POST Inler, by far and away Switzerland's player of the tournament, smashes a 25 yard boomer against the post and wide. Cracking effort, and the noise level is raised inside St Jakob Park once more.
62'
GREAT FIRST TOUCH Barnetta's first touch nearly opens the scoring as he feathers an Inler pass just across the face of goal. It was deflected for a corner, but Portugal clear the danger.
61'
SUBSTITUTION Vonlanthen is replaced by my favourite player in the tournament, purely for his name, Tranquillo Barnetta. What a guy.
58'
UP TO THE TASK Quaresma tests Zuberbuhler with a low shot but the keeper is up to the task. Postiga is then caught offside for about the 92nd time this game.
56'
FLAT The noise level in the stands has decreased considerably which is making this game look and sound like a pre-season friendly. Come on Ronaldo get yourself on the pitch son, we need some excitement.
52'
OFF THE POST Veloso picks out Nani with a peach of a pass and the winger is through on goal and should score but despite fooling the keeper contrives to hit the near post. That's twice he's hit the woodwork.
48'
WHERE'S SERGIO? I seem to remember a Portugal reserve side destroying Germany 3-0 in a dead rubber in Euro 2000. With a Sergio Conceicao hat-trick if my memory serves me correctly. Any such heroics today would be enormously appreciated. In fact, where is Sergio Conceicao these days? Surly he could do better job than Helder 'two left feet' Postiga.
46'
SECOND HALF And we're off for the second half.
45'
HALF TIME SWITZERLAND 0-0 PORTUGAL Well, it hasn't been as bad as I expected, but aside from a 20 minute spell it's been a bit of yawnfest. The Swiss look like they're all playing with a broken heart while Portugal just don't look bothered. Luiz Felipe Scolari, I'll write you into my will if you bring on Ronaldo and Deco at half time.
43'
BLATANT DIVE That's the unfortunate other side of Nani. A blantant, girly dive in the box from the winger results in neither a penalty or a booking and is just a bit cringeworthy for everybody concerned.
40'
SUBSTITUTION Jorge Ribeiro replaces Paulo Ferreira as Scolari protects his full back from getting another booking which would mean a red card and suspension.
37'
BOOKING Petty booking for Vonlanthen for kicking the ball away.
34'
NANI IMPRESSING Free header for Postiga from Nani's corner, but it's over the bar. Nani is really impressing so far, but do any of these Portugal players have a chance of getting in the first XI for the quarter-final? I'd suggest Simao's place is at risk, he's had a poor tournament. Either Nani or Quaresma could fill his position. Decisions decisions...
32'
STUNNING SAVE Inler's corner is met by Yakin and the ball looks in before Ricardo sticks out a hand to pull off a stunning save. Not a bad game this, now.
29'
BOOKING Reckless challenge by Paulo Ferriera who takes out Behrami as the Swiss winger flies towards goal. A very deserved booking for Ferriera, and Behrami looks in a lot of pain.
28'
MARGINALLY OVER Yakin's free kick is marginally headed over by Meira who takes the ball away from Senderos. The ref didn't notice it though and gives a goal kick.
27'
BOOKING Yakin goes in the book for mouthing off to the ref. Can't imagine he'll be too worried about a suspension...
25'
SELFISH Vonlanthen is through on the right but instead of passing to the unmarked Derdiyok in the centre he elects to shoot and the effort is scuffed wide. Selfish play, most unlike the Swiss.
23'
OFF THE LINE Lightning-quick break from Portugal through Nani who cuts the ball back for Postiga to surely score but his shot is hacked off the line by Senderos. Great defending.
22'
INLER SHOT Out of nothing Inler decides to have a pop from 35 yards and Ricardo has to react quickly to turn it over the top. First sniff of goal for the Swiss.
20'
SMART SAVE Quaresma's deep cross is met by the rising Bruno Alves but his header is smartly saved by Zuberbuhler down low to his right.
17'
OFF THE BAR Nani powers a free-kick from all of 30 yards and it deflects off Pepe and onto the bar with Zuberbuhler motionless. Magnificent effort from the Man United midfielder. Cristiano who?
15'
PENALTY SHOUT Nani is completely scythed down in the box by Lichtsteiner but unbelievably Portugal don't appeal for a penalty and the ref gives nothing. That was stonewall, very odd that Portugal didn't appeal - they must be even less bothered about this game than we thought.
13'
ATMOSPHERE This really is a boisterous atmosphere the Swiss are creating in Basel. Always a real shame when the hosts go out of a major tournament - the players may not have been good enough but the fans are a class above.
10'
MANAGER'S NIGHTMARE Quaresma is really lighting up this game with some amazing skills - but he seems to have a nasty habit of giving the ball away every time he goes all flashy. I think Quaresma is what's known as a manager's nightmare.
7'
SUBLIME QUARESMA Sublime skill from Quaresma as he crosses with his right foot behind his left leg, Maradona style. Tragically Postiga's header from the cross is over, otherwise that would have been talked about for years. And this guy is usually sat on the bench!
6'
LETHARGIC Cracking atmosphere in the stands but this energy hasn't transformed to the pitch as yet - bit of a lethargic start here. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
3'
PORTUGAL TEAM Ronaldo, Deco, Simao, Nuno Gomes, Bosingwa, Petit, Moutinho and Carvalho are all rested as Scolari looks to the quarter finals. The likes of Quaresma and Nani have the chance to impress.
2'
SWITZERLAND TEAM Kobi Kuhn has resisted making wholesale changes in what is his last game in charge of the national team. Vonlanthen replaces Barnetta in midfield and Zuberbuhler comes in between the sticks, but apart from that the Swiss are unchanged.
1'
KICK OFF We're underway in Basel.

PREVIEW Group A winners Portugal take on Group A losers Switzerland in what can only be described as a 'dead rubber' in Basel. The co-hosts will be playing for pride after they crashed out of the competition through a last minute winner for Turkey on Wednesday. Portugal will more than likely rest most of their star names as they take advantage of already qualifying and start preparing for a probable quarter-final against Germany. Perhaps the best we can hope for is that this game isn't instantly forgettable, although with a bit of Swiss pride and passion, and Portuguese flair, it could be better than that.
