FULL TIME PORTUGAL 3-1 CZECH REPUBLIC The scoreline is hard on the Czech's who more than played their part in an enthralling game, but in the end the quality of Portugal shone through and they will be a major force in this tournament. The Czech's now face what may be a must-win game against Turkey next Saturday, while Portugal will go through if Turkey and Switzerland draw their game in the next couple of hours.
91'
GOAL! PORTUGAL 3-1 CZECH REPUBLIC Game over. Portugal catch the Czech's on the break through a quick thinking Deco free-kick. Ronaldo was completely clear in the Czech half, and he unselfishly squares to Quaresma to tap into an empty net. Scolari's men are surely heading to the quarter-finals.
90'
SIONKO OVER Koller tees up Sionko outside the box but his half volley flashes a few yards over. We'll have three extra minutes in Geneva.
89'
JUST OVER BAROS Yet another dangerous set piece as Jankulovski's long free kick drops just over Baros' head, and Ricardo punches unconvincingly clear once more. Think I know what Portugal will be working on in training over the next few days.
87'
SILLY FOUL Not the smartest of introductions from Jarolim as he hauls down Pepe when the Czech's were in an advanced position. Can't imagine there'll be more than three minutes of stoppage time here.
85'
FINAL CHANGE Last throw of the dice from the Czech's as Plasil is taken off for Jarolim, a midfielder.
83'
CRACKING CHANCE Beautiful cross from Plasil on the right which reaches an unmarked Sionko six yards out, but his header is tipped over smartly by Ricardo. Another cracking chance, how many more can they conjure up?
82'
TEMPO DOWN All those substitutions have interrupted the flow of the game which has slowed right down. The Czech Republic need to pick up the tempo if they're going to get an equaliser in the dying minutes.
81'
HIGH AND WIDE Koller nods a cross into the path of Plasil but his left footed volley is high and wide.
80'
ANOTHER CHANGE Simao, who's not had the best of games today, is replaced by Porto's flying winger Ricardo Quaresma.
79'
PORTUGAL SUB Nuno Gomes is withdrawn for Hugo Almeida.
78'
BAROS WIDE Lovely ball into the box from Plasil and Baros, who had made a late run into the box, heads wide from eight yards despite being unchallenged. They won't get many better chances than that, and time is running out.
75'
PORTUGAL SUB Joao Moutinho hasn't really made his mark on this game and he's been withdrawn for Fernando Meira as Portugal look to close out this game.
73'
BIG MAN IS ON And here he is. Jan Koller, all 6 foot 7 of Eastern-European bulk, replaces defensive midfielder Galasek. That'll mean 4-4-2 for the Czech's.
70'
DANGEROUS HEADER A deep cross from the right is dangerously headed across goal by Plasil but Baros can't take get in the right position for a tap in. This is screaming out for either Koller or Sverkos to come on and attack these crosses.
68'
FIRST SUB Matejovsky, who has put in a tidy performance in midfield, has run out of steam and is replaced by Vleck.
66'
ANOTHER FLAP Jankulovski chips in a free kick from the left and Ricardo races 10 yards out of goal to flap at it. Grygera tries to slam home the rebound but Carvalho gets in a crucial block. Every single set piece into the box is causing Portugal major problems. I'd get Jan Koller on.
63'
GOAL! PORTUGAL 2-1 CZECH REPUBLIC It was going to take something special for Portugal to score and Ronaldo was always the most obvious man to provide it. Deco cuts inside from the right and plays a pinpoint pass to Ronaldo who places a first time shot into the corner from the edge of the box. Boy did they need that.
62'
JUST WIDE Sionko wins a corner off Carvalho down the right flank. Plasil curls it in and Ujfalusi's flick on at the near post just evades Baros and Sionko at the back stick with no Portugal defender in sight. If the Czech's want to win this I advise they win some more corners.
60'
TAME EFFORT Bosingwa dinks a lovely ball over the top for Simao who again is free in the box on the right but Rozehnal gets back to cover and the eventual shot is tame. Portugal running through the gears here.
59'
SIMAO SHOT Deco releases Simao who is free in the box but shoots straight at Cech with defenders chasing him down. Should have done better with that.
57'
OPTIONS I mentioned substitutions at half time, well they can't be too far away now. The Czech's have big Jan Koller and super-sub Vaclav Sverkos to consider, while Portugal could call on the likes on Nani, Ricardo Quaresma or Helder Postiga.
55'
LAZY DEFENDING Nuno Gomes is doing his best to feed off poor Czech defending, as he nicks the ball off a lazy Rozehnal 25 yards out before sprinting for goal, but the Lazio defender gets back well to cover his error.
53'
NUNO NO NO Nuno Gomes gets his first sight of goal in the game as he wins the ball off Galasek in the box and turns and shoots in one movement, but it's straight at Cech.
51'
INTENT Portugal win a corner of their own which Simao whips in nicely but straight onto the head of a Czech defender. Both sides have started the half with attacking intent - the next goal is crucial.
48'
ONE-TWO Sionko and Matejovsky play a marvellous one-two, with the latter releasing the former in the box but Sionko's low cross evades Baros and Portugal put the ball behind for a corner, which is cleared. Cracking pass from Matejovsky, that.
47'
GREAT CHALLENGE Portugal start the half with a patient passing move which reaches the edge of the box before Galasek lunges in with a great challenge and the danger passes.
46'
SECOND HALF Portugal get the ball rolling for the second half. No changes at the break.
45'
HALF TIME PORTUGAL 1-1 CZECH REPUBLIC Thoroughly entertaining half of football, with honours even at the break. The contrast in styles is fascinating - the Czech's are all pace and brawn while Portugal have the flair and technique. Not easy to pick a winner, but substitutions could play a big part as the game gets stretched.
45'
FREE KICK Ronaldo troubles Cech with a 35 yard free kick which bounces awkwardly, but the keeper makes the save. Portugal ending the half on top here.
44'
WHAT A WINKER Ronaldo is certainly at the centre of the action now. Ujfalusi challenges him for the ball and catches him in the face with a stray arm. Predictably everyone's favourite winker goes down like he's been punched by Mike Tyson, but is up on his feet within a matter of seconds. Ah the joys of modern football.
42'
RONALDO SHOT A left footed long-ranger from Ronaldo now, and this one tested Cech a lot more than his first attempt. However the Chelsea keeper is quick to react and palms the effort away.
41'
CORNERS A couple of successive corners for Portugal, both worked short as opposed to the direct Czech approach. The second corner finds Carvalho in a good position but he can't get a shot away quick enough.
39'
REPELLED Another Portugal attack is repelled with ease by the sturdy Czech defence. Ronaldo and Deco have been reduced to trying to create chances from about 40 yards out as a wall of red players stops them advancing any further. Simao has barely touched the ball.
36'
BARNSTORMING RUN Baros gets the crowd on their feet with a barnstorming run but his final delivery just isn't there and Portugal survive.
33'
FLUSTERED Portugal seem a bit flustered to me here. They're giving away some petty fouls and can't seem to find a rhythm in their passing. Another goal for the Czech's and we could have a shock on our hands.
31'
BOOKING Bosingwa is the second man in the book for a late challenge on Galasek.
29'
CORNER DANGER The Czech's have their first corner since their equaliser and they trouble Portugal once again. Plasil whips it in and Sionko loses his marker again but elects to volley the ball across the box rather than go for goal and Portugal clear. Ricardo was doing some serious flapping there - Portugal certainly aren't comfortable defending these corners.
28'
STAMP Slightly nasty moment as Matejovsky stamps on Petit's hand when trying to get the ball from underneath the Portuguese man. I like to think that was unintentional.
25'
LINING THEM UP Ronaldo is the next to try his luck from range with a low drive from 25 yards or so as he charged towards the area. It curled a fair amount, but was no bother to Cech who saved comfortably.
24'
DECO SHOT Deco goes close to scoring a magical goal. He skips inside Grygera on the left before unleashing a 20 yard spanker which whistles just past the upright. Special player, Deco.
23'
FIRST BOOKING Jan Polak is the first man to see yellow today, for an over-zealous challenge on Pepe. He won the ball, but that's no defence these days.
20'
UP FOR GRABS This game is bang up for grabs now. Petit tries to make amends for his slack marking with a long range attempt from 30 yards which sails wide. He'd be better off leaving that to the likes of Ronaldo.
17'
GOAL! PORTUGAL 1-1 CZECH REPUBLIC And from the resulting corner the Czech's have a simple equaliser. Sionko escapes his marker in the box and nods past Ricardo with ease. Think it was Petit who was at fault there. Just what the game needed.
16'
SIONKO RUN Sionko gets behind Pepe to the byline but his pull back is behind Baros and is hastily cleared for a corner.
15'
BAROS HEADER Promising from the Czechs as Sionko's cross is headed narrowly over by Baros, who did well to leap above Pepe to get to that.
12'
PERFECT START What a perfect start for Luiz Scolari's men. That should settle any early nerves and the Czech's are going to have to come out and force the issue.
9'
INSTANT RESPONSE Jankulovski attempts an instant response, shaping to cross from the right of the box, but cuts inside and unleashes a powerful shot which is deflected for a corner, which Portugal clear with ease.
8'
GOAL! PORTUGAL 1-0 CZECH REPUBLIC Well that has livened things up! Ronaldo comes to life, playing a delightful one-two with Gomes and bursting into the box before Cech rushes out to deny him, but only succeeds in directing the ball staight to Deco who, despite the best efforts of the Czech defence on the line, stabs the ball home for the opener.
6'
SLOW START Deco and Moutinho link up nicely in midfield before Sionko snuffs out the danger. Slow start to this game.
4'
SIONKO SHOT Nice early run from Sionko who cuts inside from the left and arrows one towards the top corner before Pepe gets his head in the way to clear for Portugal.
2'
REF Our man in black today, or actually in a rather fetching light blue, is Kyros Vassaras, a Greek. Lets hope his refereeing skills are better than his nation's football skills, judging on last night's damn-awful display.
1'
KICK OFF The Czech Republic get us underway, playing in all red. Portugal are in white.
0'
CONTRASTING ANTHEMS The two teams are out and have muttered their way through the nations anthems. Have to say I wasn't impressed with the Czech offering - very dull tune with everyone looking pretty solemn. Rousing effort from the Portuguese though, if this game is on anthems alone they've just coasted to a 3-0 victory.

NO KOLLER Interesting team news from the Czech camp there. Jan Koller has been a regular for a few years now, but his lack of mobility was really shown up against the Swiss. Perhaps the bigger surprise is that his goalscoring replacement in that game, Vaclav Sverkos, remains on the bench and it's Milan Baros who gets the nod instead. Baros was on loan at Premiership side Portsmouth in the latter half of last season, but failed to net a single goal. Then again, he was top goalscorer in Euro 2004. He's certainly what you'd call an enigma.

CZECH REPUBLIC TEAM NEWS Karel Bruckner makes two changes from the side which stuttered to a 1-0 win over hosts Switzerland on opening day. Big lump Jan Koller is replaced by the slightly more wee Milan Baros, while in midfield Marek Matejovsky comes in for Libor Sionko.

PORTUGAL TEAM NEWS Portugal are unchanged from the side which so convincingly beat Turkey 2-0 on Saturday. That means Nuno Gomes continues up front with Deco, Simao and Ronaldo supporting him. If Gomes scores today he'll become only the third player in history to net at three different European Championships. The other two? Jurgen Klinsmann (Germany) and the goal machine that was Vladimir Smicer (Czech Republic).

PREVIEW After a fascinating start to Euro 2008 today sees the second round of group matches get underway. First up, the two winners from the opening day, Czech Republic and Portugal, square up in Geneva. The tournament has come to life in the last two days with some epic matches including Holland's rout of World Champions Italy and David Villa's hat trick last night against Russia announcing Spain's intentions. With three points already in the bag for the Czechs and the Portuguese, a win today will all but guarantee a passage into the knockout stages, while a defeat will mean a nervy last game against either Switzerland or Turkey, who meet in Basel later.
