FULL TIME Meireles late goal sealed a 2-0 for Portugal against a gutsy but toothless Turkey side. Portugal were by far the better side and hit the woodwork on three separate occasions but it was the central defender, Pepe, who gave them the lead with a brilliant run and finish. Turkey threw numbers forward but never looked like causing Portugal problems at the back, while there were a number of terrible challenges from the Turks throughout. It finished Portugal 2-0 Turkey.

PORTUGAL V TURKEY Portugal take on Turkey in the second game of Euro 2008 with the Czech Republic setting the early pace in their group. Both sides limped through qualification but it's Portugal who will feel the more confident of going a long way in this tournament. Any side with the likes of Ronaldo, Nani and Quaresma getting forward is always likely to cause problems but will this young side have the strength to go all the way? Only time will tell… In contrast Turkey are not the most flamboyant of sides going forward and will struggle to score enough goals to get out of the group ahead of either Portugal or the Czech Republic.
